Virender_SehwagGuarding against complacency was the only mantra on everyone’s lips when we took on the Mumbai Indians on Thursday.

Our bowling could do a touch better but that’s where I see the batsmen stepping in and taking up the challenge. Along with today’s result, Virender Sehwag’s form will be a good reason for us to celebrate.

Indian Premier League-II has been a good season so far for the Delhi Daredevils. We’ve had some good matches and won quite a few comfortably.

The batting has been really good with AB de Villiers, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Dinesh Karthik doing consistently well. The bowlers too have been exceptional. Dirk Nannes has surprised all the teams with his awkward bounce and pace. He will be playing for Holland in the Twenty20 World Cup in June. An injury-free Ashish Nehra has been bowling in the right areas. The three left-arm fast bowlers (Pradeep Sangwan being the third) operating in tandem have been a boon for us.

What has been missing is the opening partnership. Viru and I have been getting starts but have not been able to convert them into big scores.

Initially, it was tough to adjust after the New Zealand Test series, but soon I got a hang of the format. When Viru got injured, I got to be captain. It was fun as we won three of the four games in which I led.

Having said that, I miss playing in Delhi and certainly do miss the sense of belonging.

It has been a good IPL so far and reaching thus far is an achievement.

Twenty20 is a format in which any team can win on its day, but we hope that we can do it better than last year and at least reach the final, if not win it.
